Leveraging FOMO for Startup Investments — Kalio by Platanus Ventures
2022
Platanus Ventures is an acceleration program for latin american spanish-speaking tech startups. They invest, twice a year, in early-stage digital startups with the potential to scale regionally.
Kalio is an integral component of Platanus Ventures, serving as the driving force behind its scalability. Its primary objective is to streamline coordination among all stakeholders involved in our processes, including founders, investors, PV partners, internal teams, and external founders participating in office hours. Over time, Kalio has evolved in complexity, now comprising several modules.
To make Kalio truly indispensable for both current and past batch founders, an upgrade was necessary. Many founders were seeking features within Kalio but encountered difficulties in locating or utilizing them effectively.
Another crucial part of the redesigning of Kalio was facilitating the highly significant Demo Day. This event has transformed industry standards by transitioning to an all-online format featuring a bidding system. Investors are given a limited window of 2-3 days to invest in the startups they desire, with rounds closing once targets are met. To ensure optimal investor engagement, we prioritized user-friendliness, making the platform exceptionally intuitive. Given the substantial investment opportunities, it was essential that the platform exceeded expectations in usability and functionality.
